New YZF750R!!!!

Post by Nick Howe »

So, I found this on the cl and couldnt pass her up, traded my '93 FZR600 with gsxr600 swingarm
This was the last time I saw my FZR :(

BUT THIS IS THE 1997 YZF750R with ohlins suspension (forks/shocks)

She has been crashed on the left side, lost the clutch/etc on the handlebar and rashed the fairings, so I will be tearing her apart to see how deep the damage goes. As it stands, i think 500$ on my end plus my FZR was well spent, seeing as the ohlins suspension alone is worth more than the 5 bills cash i spent and I really cant wait to feel that 750 powaaahhhh screwy

not forsaking the FZR though, I still have Anakin ;)

The fox eye edition FZR's and YZF's are the pick of the bunch. your YZF 7fiddy is (like my EXUP1000) the last of a breed. they were made around the time Yamaha bought out Ohlins and benefited from that as yamaha lobbed everything they had at these bikes before thet stopped making them.

Whilst the Ohlins that were fitted to our bikes wern't the top of the range kit for Ohlins it was a vast improvement over previous suspension used! multi

You made a good choice! the midrange difference from the 600 is worth it!! Less bouncing up 'n down the gear box in twisties and far easier overtakes pasts members of the great unwashed in their tin coffins!!

As an aside the picture with a front view looks at a glance like a mid 90's red VFR750fr (was called an interceptor in the states i think) i used to have!! that WAS a bang on 750!

Thanks man! It does look like the honda vfr some, but its got that yamaha vibe to it ya know
the only thing is im already having trouble finding parts for the dang thing! I looked over at the other threads and it seems like the yzf600r has a lot of semi-inter-change-able parts but so does the fzr1k!?
Im struggling so anyone with some extra parts should lmk! Pics of the tear down will be up soon, just cleaned my garage, mmmm that nice clean garage before you rip in is a great feeling WOOT

parts will always be a pain in the arse, it's one of those machines where people hoard spare parts "just in case".

it took me 6 months to find a replacement nose cone for mine (after i had a minor interface with a BMW X5 and a field) as nobody in the uk makes them (square headlight yes, fox eye NO!!) so ended up buying one second hand from TEXAS!

with that bike of yours, if you want it original, will have to be a long term labour of love i suspect. scrounging parts and haggling with breakers! if not, street fighter it! done well they look F***ING mint!!

Im planning on making this a labor of love bro! I want this to look like the bike Attack built like this: http://airtech-streamlining.com/yamaz/Y ... CK1996.htm
But also be able to take her down the road with little effort.

So got the time to strip her down today, and what lay below was not good...
Does anyone have an idea what is missing? im thinking its the whole cover
