Buddy of mine had a thunderace and did an 1100 kit on it, I think wiseco still sells it. Now you wanna talk about a beast!
Re: My YZF750R
Sounds like someone is enjoying the fruits of his labor. One day I'll join you in that respect (1k still isn't where I want it to be). Amazing how good it handles for it's size, right?

Just in case you feel like rebuilding.....

Sadly the cylinder head will need new sleeves. The old ones were pitted beyond repair.

How long until we see a single sided swinger on this one?
Great job though. Any idea the build time from truck to last Sunday?
Chris.

Re: My YZF750R
um, let me see. Like bmiller said, I've had this for a while now. I picked it up toward the end of July '09. I was accumulating parts, but I didn't even put a wrench to it until January '10. Even then, I didn't really do much to it. Mostly just tare down and cleaning. I didn't have it to a point that I could try to crank it up until around May/June of this year. So the time is a little scued.
I almost put a SSSA onto this one. I had to really step back and think about my finances as I already had a Ducati 748 swingarm I wanted to mount up. It would be very easy. The pivot is smaller so I would need to shim it instead of cut. And the top shock mount, all I would need to do is weld a bracket arm in place to mount the shock to. I thought that with some R7 body work would be bad ass. Who knows, I may still do it.

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.
Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

Re: My YZF750R
Cad... Im very jealous. VERY. I've been looking at YZF frames to make a 750/1000 combo. Make sure if you put the 1k motor in it, use the 750 cams. They have a higher lift and longer duration. I got mine from Nate =) very happy about that.
The shock is sooooo sexy. I want one, just cant afford it =(
and 1100 fzr motor??? I know of the 1040,1070 and superbike mike can make an 1125 one but that itself cost damn near 3 grand. the 1040 is very realible and a nice way to fresh her up though =)
You did a great job bringing her back to life. I REALLY REALLY want one, I think it'd look purtty next to my 1k....
SO you wanna flog me yours for a gatorade bottle, paper clip and an old sock?
Nice bike man

Re: My YZF750R
I checked wiseco and it does only list a 1040 and 1070, I'd swear there was an 1100 kit for the thunderace. I'll see where my friend got his
Edit: checked with my buddy, he had the 1040. They do say the mind Is the first to go,lol

Re: My YZF750R
Well, I never thought I would want that much power. But after riding the 750 for a week now, I may be swayed that direction. But in a way, I can't see moding this thing just to drop a 1k motor into it. I don't know, the mod bug still has a fir grip on me from the 600 build but this thing is damn near stock I kind of want to keep it that way.

Re: My YZF750R
I dont think there is much to be done to get the 1K in as the 750 is the same case ETC

Re: My YZF750R
There isn't. I know the crank case is a direct swap so the bolt pattern is the same. I think the FZR1000 head has the same bolt pattern as the YZF750. The YZF1000 is a little different and requires a spacer plate for the new bolt pattern to bolt in. If anything, the FZR1000 engine would need the same thing which is simple. Then it is just the computer and carb jets. The YZF750 wire harness is even wired for the TPS sensor which the 750 does not use but the YZF1000 does.
I jsut don't see myself doing any mods to this yet. Besides the V&H SS2R slip on I just added. Pics later.

Added a V&H exhaust can. Sounds much deeper now.
