Yam,
Since my new stainless down pipes were slightly different diam to the original out let I used Hi-heat Silicon glue which is clear or blue depending on Brand .

Seems to have held gas tight so far ................

Got one sorted YG.
Made me think though George,do you think the silicon glue would work with the standard pipes,as its quite a large gaskit?
Cannot be bad stuff though really,to seal any exhaust.

Yam,
I used it to sort the slight mis-align from front to mid pipe with in the region of a 1/8" gap with a smidge round the inside of th outer pipe and a bead on the inner twist the two together to get even coat and whilst "wet" bolt up look Y_G no leeks <BG>

Used to do this on spring held header & spannies on two strokes no problem, no leaks and when time comes to service you twist apart again.
