hi i have fzr 600 i have cut tail at moment but still not happy can anyone help ive looked on ebay but prices out of window anybody have a single seat unit i can modify

First off with the r6 tail, you will need at least a rear light unit, an undertray, and probably jack up dog bones. You also have to cut up the subframe and swap the expansion bottle. Mine burnt 4 VRs out in 12 months due to lack of air flow, which causes all kinds of problems expense and . I've relocated mine using a R6 VR. So it's certainly not a cheap modification.

You can cut up a R6 tail to fit the fzr seats like this.


That's how mine was when I bought it, I immediately replaced that ugly aluminium No plate holder with a tail tidy about £45. The tail (after market fibreglass) cracked and became ugly. I've recently fitted an unmodified R6 5EB tail which requires both R6 seats, and fabricated brackets to mount them, or a R6 subframe. You can plug the hole in the tank cover and mod the riders seat, or fit a YZF600 tank. Take a look through the Hybrid Sports Bike forum, to get the idea, plenty of good write ups in there.

It will probably work out a lot cheaper with a single seat unit tho.Think about it and get back. I do have a damaged (repairable) R6 5EB tail, and other parts now surplus to requirements.

Unless you have another bike that you can ride - always save projects till the winter.

cheers guys i have already cut and chopped moved fuses put bottle under seat been out today with my son on back for a blast over the mountains all no problems it is now just a cosmetic thing just wish sunday drivers would make right decision which way they would like to go and the donkey riders not to take the lines we like to take but great ride mawler i sent a pm about that tail to recycle

Here's pics of the damage. 3 of the 6 lugs are missing 1 is broken, all can be replaced/repaired with Plastex, the repair area in Black is a poor repair and needs work the line isn't straight. I got it cheap on ebay, only to get a better one later. If you want it you can have it for postage + £1 to cover wrapping & paypal fee. Its not really worth more IMO.

one more thing you can make a undertray out off perspex then cover it with self adhesive vinyl, like I've done.
