I believe he has the little brother to our predecessor FZ600....air cooled is it, AJBlair?

In which case, not many parts will interchange.

But, fun little bike.

I know very little about the FZ series and to be quite honest with you, I doubt that most parts would work. The FZ series were air-cooled, the FZRs were liquid cooled. The FZR had the Deltabox frame.

The reason a lot of people haven't chimed in is due to the availability of the FZ series.

The FZ series were air-cooled,
Hi, this is untrue. The FZ400R is an exeption in this and defnatly has a liquid cooled engine. I own one of these.

Problem with this bike is that it's only produced for japan so parts in europe are rare, unless u can find someone who is able to read the japanese language. This bike was top selling in japan so plenty of parts available there.

For the european market Yamaha build the FZ600R, witch is identical to the FZ400R EXEPT the engine, the FZ600R uses a air cooled engine. Also there is a full fairing.

If you looking for body parts i think lots of them are identical to the FZ600R, so it's alot easier to find those.

Hiya, yea mine is water cooled, I have had people tell me that I can use settings like valve gaps from the FZR Genisis, if this is true then thats a help, ive got a running bike but its also in bits now as im repainting it. just wanted to know if i could use anything else, or slightly modify from the fzr400

The FZ400R engine is also used in the XJ400Z...i'm in doubt if the valve train of the FZ400R is identical to the FZR Because the FZR's seems to reving a bit higher on max RPM.

A manual would help figuring out ! But im still unsuccesfull in finding this, even a japanese manual would be cool...anyone ??
