FZ750 engine frame swap question

Post by britx303 »

Potentially building a FZ750 racebike, and wondered about different frames. This is just a sh*ts and giggles project before everyone gets all serious......i save the serious part for when the visour flips  Anyhow,I have a 600 frame I was thinking to use,and since I have tons of suspension parts from other racebikes over the last few years, just toying with the idea of a FZ750 engine next. Making new cradles is no big deal.....just wondering about the rear mounting. Also,I "thought" ive read that the FZ cylinders are slanted more forward and pose a problem, but I dont know where I read that or if im remembering something wrong screwy

The crankcases are externally almost identical to the later FZR thou non EXUP jobs, won't fit in the 600 frame without wholesale butchery and fabrication.

Hey dude no replies on this in 6 months... how is this project going? For what it is worth you would have been MUCH better off picking up an FZ750, and mod the 750 motor as it is fairly easily to mod it for more power... or swap in a Genesis or EXUP 1000 motor in. That is what I am doing, including the entire harness and EXUP valve. motor is swap-out swap in... with FZR1000 front and rear swingarm (which does take some work), you would have a rippin' classic trackbike for not much more weight than an old FZ600 frame.

Didnt go anywhere with it.......finally decided on doing a 660 build for one of the other racebikes. Still want to eventually run a 750.......especially at Daytona. THAT should be FUN!!!!

I used a '91 1K chassis to build a race legal 750. Still needs a little carb sorting, but I'm selling it this winter. Great project, and it came out well.

The 61 was my 4/6 I sold it to buy my TZ I'm racing now. $3500.00 for the FZ17 (my own made up name!) I have a literal mountain of engine spares that can go with it. The specas are as follow:

FZR1000 chassis
N-series FZ750 engine
.50mm overbore
YZF750 cams
38mm carbs, port matched
YEC starter/alt delete
Oil pressure update
1K coolant re-route upgrade
1K rad
New EBC green clutch
Factory Pro shift kit
99-02 R6 front end
New EBC HH pads
Fully floated rotors
Race Tech internals, .90
Stadium rear shock, 850lb Spring
Near new Pirelli slicks SC1/SC1
Rear stand

I have a pristine set of 39mm FCR's that need re-spacing to fit the FZ motor. Additional $450.00

3500 sounds like a d@mn good deal! Im not ready at the moment...... so internet tire-kicker warning :) Do you just race with VRRA? That 750 would be sweet to run around daytona!!Yes,im obsessed with running a fzr750 there after good times on the fzr600.The 400 was fun,but that place needs POWER!! Hence my leaning towards a 750 now.

Maybe? I was never on this site until the archives finally went under. I've bought/sold a crap ton of parts building and tuning 4/6's.

I'm building an actual OW01 at the moment, which will hopefully see Kershaw in six months with AHRMA. If you're ready by then and it's still kicking around I could deliver it there.

Here's my TZ, it's an '88 3AK. I'm shooting for a paint scheme similar to the original Loctite OW's. They were allotted the first three OW01's out of the factory. This chassis I'm building is serial number 4!
