that solution has been around for a while now and i have retro-fitted to a friends little Myford lathe.
What stuck me about this solution was that the displays were capable of being centralised in a position where you could watch the cut AND keep an eye on the distance with out peering at small read out just at periferal vision.

As probably the oldest here I can state that good eyesight is not permanent hence the big readouts being a blessing..
As to the cost of the box getting a smallish run done for metalwork/plastic and i would think he hand assembles/solders them so what 15USD hour + materials PLUS some profit, he would do better sales at say 149USD but say what his choice.

I see your point. Plus, you don't have to be your age to experience eyesight issues. I'm in my mid-40s now and already notice that I can't see things up close.

I like that Design Guide...gives some decent pointers to us who are CNC-illiterate.
