shinko 006 tires - stock sizes- fzr600

Post by sleepersc »

First off, im new the the motorcycle world.

I just got a 97 fzr600 for my first bike. The bike had a balding 120/60r17 continental on the front and a new 150/60/18 on the back. The bike felt slippery to me so I checked out the tires and the setup the previous owner had on the bike was dumb.
radial in the front... byasply in the rear... both are wider sizes.

I ordered a pair of shinko 006 tires in stock sizes and am having them mounted as I type this. There are mixes reviews of this tire so I wanted to wire my own review of them.

I will update this thread often with what they feel like to a noob casual rider. Also how many miles I get out of them.

Check back for updates.

I have put 500 miles on them so far. The still look new.

The traction feels great. Waaaaay better than the old setup.

Ill update more later.

It all depends on your riding style , but after 1000-1500 miles you should notice how much more worn they get . They really do wear out quicker . They are not bad for the lower price end tires . Nothing like having new rubber on tho . Enjoy !

Sleep,
Break in for atyre is about that 500 miles as the mould oil etc is still very present and make the tyre look newish HOWEVER that same oil can be very treacherous as my brother found out on his first wet day with 400miles on them. The lady who braked unexpectedly needed a new rear wind shield & he needed a new helmet and armour in his jacket.

Take care and keep us informed thanks.
