Hey all, after lots of storage time in different places I can't find the aixbox for my FZR400. I was wondering if they are the same as the airbox for the FZR600. If they aren't any idea on what the differences are, height and width?

The answer is no, but from what I have found it should work on my FZR400/YZF600 hybrid. I just picked one up on ebay, I will post here once I am able to test fit the airbox

Let me know if it works. The important thing is to have the right length velocity stacks that match the carbs you are using otherwise the carbs go out of tune and the motor runs like crap. I don't know if the YZF and FZR600 boxes have the same lenght stacks, but when I ran my pod filters on my 400 motor, it worked fine. After the FZR600 swap I ran pod filters and it ran rough. The 400 stacks are so short (1.75") that it is very close in length to pod filters. The FZR600 stacks are about 4"long.

You need to cut and shut the two together.
The YZF carb "holes" need to be let into the 400 airbox and I think you need a bigger snorkel on the top (where you put the air filter in. This is because the 600 airbox won't fit under the 400's tank, you still might need to space the tank or tank shroud up a bit because the 600 is a taller engine.

So I got the fzr600 airbox, I pulled the carb boots just like I had on my fzr400 airbox. And it fit great, no problems at all with it fitting between the frame rails or under the tank cover
