good ideas for tail bags?

I realize on our 400's, we are probably not going cross country. That said, I'm sure someone here has found a tail bag that they are really excited about. Something that doesn't scratch the paint, isn't too big, isn't too small, doesn't look silly . . . Cortech looks like they have some nice bags, but $70 for a small bag to holdd my gloves and a Coke seems a bit steep! Right now I'm resigned to a cheap canvas backpack stuffed under the pass seat, but I'd love to hear a better option.

Taggy, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, due to wonderful performance of the US dollar (

), these options become fairly expensive to get stateside. I'm looking for inexpensive. And if I am going to shell out some cash, I'd like to know the item works well with the bike and doesn't scatch the paint etc.

well if you find some oxford stuff over there,it's pretty good kit and works really well. i always put non-slip foamstuff under any paniers etc so get extra protection from that for the paint. not scratched anything yet! i also have small bag, think they called it a lock/chain bag, that fits onto the rear pillion seat with straps that go underneath the seat, never getting near the paint, it'll hold waterproofs and a drink, so might be worth searchin for one of them!
cheers

like taggy i'd recomend Oxford kit!
their range is extensive and well made. i used to have some Oxford 1st time gear(tail, panniers & tank bag), was cheap but lasted well and looked good!
