Help needed..For a Newcomer
I currently own a FZR400 3EN2 1989 imported into the UK in 1996. i live in UK
I purchased the bike as a none runner and was told by the previous owner that the bike would not start,
and he wanted to just get rid of it.
he did say to me that it could be the CDi..
I got the bike home and managed to get the bike running off a diffrent battery as the battery that came with the bike was the wrong type.
went for a run around the side streets but came to a stop after about 2 miles.
had difficulty starting but managed to limp home on what seemed 2 cylinders.
plugs were a black sooty condition
i'm currently stripping the carbs: the mixture screws were set at about 5 turns and the float
bowls are set about 24mm.
Can anyone tell me if this is the correct float height( i'm sure i read here that it was nearer 13mm)
also when i changed the oil noticed that the oil was smelling of petrol - really bad, i could ignite the oil with a naked flame.
Can anyone spare some time to shed some light on the problem i'm having.or give me some pointers.
Apologies if my message is a bit longwinded but i did try include all of the facts.
Thanks
