Hmmmm...... I'm also paranoid about the security of my bike (many thieves in this neck of the woods) without added security disc/rotor lock, alarm/immobiliser E.T.C. the thief's job is made easier, if they really want it they will get it.

Get a decent alarm/immobiliser (some have remote starts that do not need to be used/wired), a Thatcham Approved disc lock, & a reminder which attaches between the lock and throttle grip so you don't ride off with the lock attached. I'm not posting in a public forum nor to anyone of the security measures on my bike for obvious reasons, I will say don't scrimp on the cost.

The tracking device IDK.

When the bike is @ home locked in a garage or not, use a ground anchor, plus keep a big baseball bat drill the shaft and pour in molten lead (that easily breaks thieves bones) also drill the handle and attach a cable (to wrap round your wrist) hang it on a wall close to your door (if the cops ask, say its an ornament) :grinnod:

Keep Yourself & her safe.

A mate showed me his new alarm called the SPY5000 this has a tracking system of sorts and the remote start I believe is not required.

Use google to find out more on various Forums

:shocker
they will have trouble getting it at my house as i have 2 solid anchors and a Rottweiler :D
but as for the baseball bat... i have a metal one (somewhere :/ ) and a loaded air rifle...
im just worried about it when im at work/friends etc etc... :(

and as for remote start, i dont like having something thats not 100% working if it has the remote start button, id have to wire it in 'cause it would annoy me... so i just want a alarm that doesnt have it... haha

This is a shameless plug for my work, Best Buy, but we have an insignia little buddy tracker. It's a child GPS locator. It's about the size of a lipstick case. So it would fit nicely, close to the frame. If you didn't have to change the batteries occasionally then I would find a way to put it into the frame. I get a rediculous discount on them, so if you are good for the $15 a month fee there you go. It's also pay as you go so you don't have to sign the contract. But I know there is a thread somewhere else on the board about a cell phone with a gps locator and you would just add it to your existing contract.

A word of warning on the remote start, if the ignition is off and the bike is in gear. When you disable the immobilizer the engine WILL crank over and start, the bike will come off the stand :swear

When I had the remote start wired up, I jet washed the bike (must have knocked it into gear) when I disabled the immobilizer CRASH :swear :swear :swear :swear :swear

Chris,
neat device BUT only Us of A coverage & i am sure that rigging the gadget to hide in the frame would upset its TX / Rx power.
Mind you glued inside a plastic headlamp shell would be good or even in the sponge of a seat or on an FZR 600 inside the false tank cover and rigged with re-chargeable batteries to a suitable on board sub-charging system would be easy.

The critic on the website with his "just add a 'droid phone to his contract" must have money to burn android phones cost almost as much as my bike did.!

M,
the "in gear" & the "side stand" safety switches must have been bypassed on the bike for that to happen. On my alarm a "modified" HAWK the tech told me that I must never (as if I would ) remove the safety gear

Geo with the ignition ON the safety switches operate as normal :headscratch: its only when the ignition is off (no key), that's why I've been studying the main relay. I suspect the wiring instructions that came with the alarm are wrong/poor.

M,
yup some place there is def a fault those safety switches should work as soon as the engine is capable of being "tumbled" and the plugs capable of being fired.
the switches should "ground" the LT side of the plugs so even though the engine is turned over the ignition pulse on the LT of the plugs should be removed by the grounding effect of those two safety switches.

I've just tested, wired how I thought it should be wired, It does not crank whilst in gear anymore, wired per the instructions the safety switches were bypassed!! The strange thing is, before (remote start disabled/not wired) when I disabled the immobiliser (no key in the ignition) if the bike was in gear the start button operated as normal (cranked the engine), with the key in and turned on the bike would not crank if in gear, now everything operates as it should key in or not.

The mishap happened over a year ago, all I can think of is, there must have been poor/corroded connections (on the main relay?) which I have since rectified. For that reason the remote start is staying disconnected, One corroded connector could = CRASH :swear on mine wired as I thought it should be, the remote start acts as the start button, grounds the main relay.

George,

I believe you're thinking of a CDI ignition kill-switch. Grounding the LT side of TCI coils will burn them out quite quickly, as they are wired to 12v. The safety switches generally lead to a relay and act as the ground path to the relay's coil, turning it on (so long as any one switch is closed, power flows).

Don,
you are absolutely correct !, my head is so far into this other project I am thinking in terms of it rather than FZR screwy

Well... they will NOT be getting it from my house. they may get in but getting out would be a pain... :D

x1 multi channel tracker
x1 alarm with remote KILL (not ignition)
x6 cctv cam's
x2 dogs (that can open the door) - great i know!
along with an alarmed gate...
a 9ft brick wall covered in babrbd wire...
and 2 neighbours that never seem to sleep :)

Do you think iv gone over the top? :/
