You're going to have to check message boards and eBay.

What country are you in?

There are only used ones.

The 400cc's were only in the states for a few years and they didn't sell as well as 600cc's. We don't have horsepower restrictions like many other countries, so we have larger displacement models. But, that's also why we don't get the cool 250cc motorcycles out there.

You can check the European message boards as they has a lot more 400cc bikes due to horsepower restrictions.

I want to say they do but I'm not for sure.

You should also ask that question in the 400 forum, there are many variations of the 400, someone with 400 knowledge (RoadDogma) may know.

I just moved this to the FZR400 sub-forum. I should have checked that when I posted.

I have a 89 FZR400 (1WG) and bought what I thought was the left control switch for my bike. Turns out it was for a 600.

The harnesses are the same but the wires are all in different places. All you need to do is re-pin the harness on the switch to match the OEM wiring harness and you'll be good to go.

This is the actual auction that I won. I believe they have another available but don't be surprised if the pins don't match! No worries though- it's nothing a small flathead screwdriver and some patience can't fix. :)

Ok guys i have another question, you cannot find new switches for this bike from yamaha, there discontinued :duh: , come on yamaha.

Anyway i have found some really nice universal switches on ebay, here is where the problem comes in. I found one that does headlight, turnsignals, start. My throttle side switch is so faded out its junk, this is where the 2 throttle cables come out and go to the carbs, so i guess im stuck having to find same oem yamaha switch for throttle use ? any other throttle units that take 2 cables that would work that dont have switches built in ? boy what fun restoring a old bike banghead
