Tachometer needle stuck at 2k RPM

Hey everyone,

So couple days ago there was a storm, very windy and lots of rain. My bike was parked outside but was covered the entire time. When it finally got warm again, I started up the bike with no problems but noticed that when I revved the bike, the needle wouldn't go higher than 2k rpm but the engine is clearly revving at 4k+. I can see the needle is trying to go higher but seems like it can't. Anyone have this problem before? Thanks.

havent encountered such problem before, but try to check the wiring that lines up to tacho for corrosion. or just check for any sediments causing blockade to the needle.

Open it up and check the back end of it (behind the face) I had a small plastic piece broken off inside and it wedged into the mechanical part of the tach

DYE,
if you think it was due to rain you should check you electrics, how ever R3tard has avalid point that it may just be coincidence as I have had 3 mal-functions on speedo's/ tacho's over the years that were physical jams as he has described.& only one due to electrics.
