Hi
I'm Nathan and from Gloucester
Bought my first proper bike a few days ago and i love her!! Fzr400 RR 1992 with the SP front fairing. I intend to add some pics etc soon.

Looking through the website I have seen a lot of mods. I like my SP front end and for now i do not want to change it.
BUT, i love the look of the bikes with the r6/r1 tail unit. Im not to fussy and would be happy to do either (whichever is cheapest and/or easiest)

Can someone please advise me how i would go about this and what unit, if any, would be a fairly standard replacement.

I will see how this goes, but my next project will be a curvyer tank (which i will also need advice on!)

Thanks for your time and hope to hear soon :)

Most of the tank swaps are a YZF600 (not the R6) and from what I have seen to too difficult (can't say from experience as I have not done it) Most tails are 99-02 R6, can be done with or without using the R6 subframe (which requires cutting off old subframe and fabbing the R6 on) Here is a good link with a how-to for the tank and tail.

Welcome aboard and post up some pics when you can.

Since you have a 400, i'm not sure if the yzf tank will fit, I think it should. I did one on my 600 and it works very nice. on the tail swap since you have a 400 you will already have a bolt on sub frame So, imagine it would be just a matter of getting a 99-02 r6 subframe to line up. I have a 600 but feel free to read through my thread on the swaps, I have tried to list links for all the swaps that related to mine.

I have a quick link in my sig below.

there would be no problem with the tail tidy from 06 R6. as long as you are not in hurry to do some mods. you can rebuild your own new subframe to suit the tail. remember, this is not a critical problem.
