Hey I was checking my ignition coils and everything seems within spec except the boots. Some of them are way off. What would this mean for the running of my bike? Is it something I should be concerned about? If the boots need to be replaced where can I get new boots from or what kind should I use?

Coil for 2 and 3

Primary - 2.3 ohm
Secondary- 13.1 k ohm
Boots- 9.85 k and 22.4 k

Coil for 1 and 4

Primary - 2.4 ohm
Secondary- 12.6 k ohm
Boots- 27.4 k and 92.7 k

(Boots should be between 9 and 11 k ohm)

Too high resistance in the boot means the resistor is failing, and you're losing spark energy pushing it through the resistor instead of through the spark gap. In time (perhaps more, perhaps less), you'll start getting weak sparks that might not burn through any fouling on the plug. A little longer, and the resistor will simply and literally go to pieces, and you no longer have a connection.

Any bike shop can set you up with the right caps; if you go to Rocket Motorcycle (215 Oakdale, near Jane & Finch), tell Robbie - the crusty old bastard behind the counter - that Don and Lala wish him a happy birthday! :-D

Sounds like I better get a set of boots.
