Bar End / Grip

According to the micrifiche it seems like on the left side has a threaded bar end; the right bar and end is one single piece. Does that mean if I want custom bar ends I'd have to replace the entire clip on? Anyone change the grip but keep the old throttle? Or is the grip + throttle assembly glued pretty tightly together?
Thank in advance.

On the 600 the bar ends definitely both come off/on easily.
I replaced the whole throttle tube/grip on my 600 but a previous owner had put an aftermarket grip on the original tube- the only problem was the grip was a little short so you could see about 3/4 inch of tube.

One thing to keep in mind is the oem bar ends help to absorb the vibration.

Its ONLY for the 400. 400s and 600 of 1988 has separated ends. So stupid not sure why they did it for 400 only.

The bar ends and clip on tubes are separate, its just how its been drawn, the bar ends are the same so the part no is the same too.
You can unscrew them with an allen key. I've fitted aftermarket ones before because it didn't have any when I bought it. They usually have a rubber bung and as you tighten a bolt it squashes it and it grips, the reality is that they can vibrate loose and then fall off. I eventuality fitted alloy ones from Bike It, they're Thundercat shape.
Cut the old grips off with a Stanley knife, just score them don't cut fully through. When you put the new ones on pat them with a flat hand then spray a bit of carb cleaner between the bar and grip that will give you a couple of seconds to move it then it will grip again. I used Rethnal dual compound superbike grips they feel nicer without tiring your hands.

Do you have the 1988 FZR400 (none S)? There is no alan key hole for the right side - it's only on the left. I checked the micofiche the left and right bar are unique parts. I took out the right bar and examined it: it's one piece with the bar end.
I got the grip off while the throttle tube was tangling on. Just used a screw driver and lots of WD40. Whew finally! New Progrip 717 is 3/4" too short though like JohnBoy mentioned

WD40 a lubricant on a bar grip ... Should be fine.
I've had 2x 3EN2 and 3x 3TJ atm ... I had a FZ600 back in 87
Got a Bimota SB6 ... which is nice
