Modern clutch perch on FZR400?

Post by slickwill »

I've seen a few threads on swapping out the electrical controls but has anyone swapped out the clutch perch? I'm not finding any modern levers that fit the standard perch. I'd like to run a CRG or similar. It looks like the perch from the '03-'08 R6 could possibly work but may require a custom cable?

I fitted GPZ 500 Z assy (circa £ 20)

Not that modern but it matched the R6 brake master cylinder upgrade lever.
I believe the ZX6r Ninja is the same.
That and new clutch cable, transforms operation.

The R6 perches are cheap enough that I don't think it will hurt to try. I'm sure that with a bit of ingenuity I can make it work. I did see a thread about converting to a hydraulic clutch. That's probably a bit over the top for my needs.

doesnt look like it is an issue,
i got a 2006 r6r clutch perch on the bay for 20 bucks
- i also went with the 2007 r6r front brake master cyl- its a brembo on that model from '06 to '09
my switch controls are in pretty good shape so i dont need to throw $ at that, but i agree it would be a nice upgrade with modern ones

I'll update a bit in case anyone else wants to do the same. The stock perch uses a bit more slack than the R6 perch so the R6 perch ends up very near the end of the adjustment range. To compensate I cut a small spacer from Delrin, pulled the cable at the other end, slipped the spacer between the cable and the side cover. It took out the perfect amount of slack.ImageImageImage

This will allow me to order some modern adjustable levers.
