double headlight to single headlight FZR 400rr

Post by silversleeper »

Hello,

Does anyone know what is required to switch out a DBL Headlight upper fairing to the Single headlight fairing. Either the RR-SP, or TZR 250 type headlight.

will the single headlight fairing mount directly to the double headlight fairings?
Do you have to swap out the fairing stay?

Thanks,

Tim

Well obviously you need a different top fairing, the 3TJ one in the second pic is different to the 3en2 in the first.

There was one year of FZR 600 3HE that has the single light and will fit your bike and the head light should bolt on to your subframe.

One thing though the 3tj uses 2 small lights in the single assembly they're pretty poor though. You'd be better off keeping your fairing and using a pair of FZR 1000 Exup lamps, they have H4 bulbs.

I see what you are saying about the small headlights. Actually I was looking to do the one that looks like the TZR head light or like the second picture that has a projector beam.

what are you thoughts on that

Thanks,

Those two pics are the 600 and that's how I'd go if I was doint this conversion. This single headlight is interchangeable with the RR-SP (it's a 3TJ02) with the double projector beams - although as I said before they're not very good as an actual headlight and they only take a certain bulb so you can't upgrade them.
The 600's headlight in the pic will obviously fit, so will the TRX850, FJ1200 and FZR1000 RU - they don't have the projectors but I think there was one main one dip version that used an H3 / H1 combination.
