My bike is running fine. Temp gauge sits at 1/4 when riding and the fan kicks in just below the red when stopped in traffic.
I would refer the fan kicked in earlier so its a case of replacing the thermostat switch with a unit that triggers at a lower temp.
Question:
Wondering if anyone has explored this and has come up with solution?
Thanks

Re: Radiator Question.
i wired in a bypass switch on a race bike, meant i could turn the fan on when I wanted, but still leave the thermostat to do its thing if i cut the bypass, might be an option?

Re: Radiator Question.
I've never seen a thermoswitch (NOT thermostat!) with a lower setting. Hooking up a fan over-ride switch in parallel with the thermoswitch is a common mod. As Taggy suggested, by wiring it in parallel, the fan can still cut in on its own if you forget to turn it on (it'll still run forever if you forget to turn it off).

Re: Radiator Question.
Thanks guys for the reply. Yes considered doing the switch but not the most elegant solution.
Did a bit of research and most car thermo switchs work at a lower temperature.
The FZR switch kicks in at around 105C and a car thermo switch as low as 85C.
So just have to find a switch with a matching thread.

Re: Radiator Question.
from what i've seen of car ones they are pretty bulky things, i'm not sure they'd fit due to how they fit on the bike, but i havent seen all that many so i might be wrong!

Re: Radiator Question.
Someone like fanman.com should have an adjustable thermoswith with a probe that fits into the radiator. I had that on a track car, and things worked out well. It won't be invisible, but it will be functional.

Re: Radiator Question.
In addition to size it will come down to the resistance values it puts out at different temps.
