So after finally getting my bike running after having to change valve seals everything seems okay except it seems to be running lean. When i give a quick snap of throttle it dies but a slow twist and it works okay. Not sure if i have to fiddle with the jets or not, I have my aftermarket air filters on trying to reduce air but didnt seem to help.
Any thoughts?

What Model do you own? For a 3FH 3 1/2 Turns out are the defaultsetting for the mixture-screws according to the service manual....
And sure that all rubber-joints fit well and are not cracked anywhere and they all are still sitting in place where they should and none slipped off the carb?

Filters .... plural ? When you say the valves, do you mean the float valves in the carbs ??? If that's right then you probably need to check the fuel level height. If it's a bit low it can give a weak mixture. Then balance the carbs.

So I had changed my actual valve seals, the ones under the camshafts and everything. I have K&N air filters on, so no airbox. Is there a easy way to play with fuel level and balance the carb or what is the way to do it?Evilchicken0 wrote:Filters .... plural ? Ok - wel cross your fingers the float level won't have changed. By the book you need a clear tube which is attached to the drain plug, then you line it up on a line on the carb body - it should be in the manual or use the 600 manual if needs be.
But I think it's the carbs out of balance. When you do the valves you change how much they open so you need to reset the carbs to the draw from the cylinders. You can use vacuum gages but it a bit of a pain to set them up, or you need an airflow meter.

You want the bike running at a steady rpm, (Look in the manual or try 2,500), with the airbox removed push the meter into No3 and note the flow, then adjust No4 to that theres a screw in the middle of them. Do the same with 1 and 2. Now look for the same adjuster screw between 1+2 and 3+4 adjust to No3.
Readjust the idle speed.
Pods on a bike are trouble, find an airbox and convert it back.

I will try and balance the carbs soon but recently the bike wont start and its because of the Fuel:Air Mixture i think because it wont fully catch but you hear it want to try, and when i hold my hand over all the carbs(not creating a seal just less air flow) it sounds like it is running but wont ever stay.I will fiddle with it then balance once weather is warmer. Is using that airflow meter syncing the carbs? Because im not sure if i need to do that as well.
Also I cant switch back to an Airbox because I have a Muzzy Competitive Exhaust system(at least im quite sure) plus the pods add some power but who knows ill take a look around and see.
Also I changed my valve seals but my bike still likes to shoot out some smoke any other way oil could be getting burned more? (i havent been able to fully test the bike yet but when it was running it was shooting some smoke)
