One of my rear is broken so I went on the bay and bought a set http://www.ebay.com/itm/EBP-Pair-Rear-T ... b9&vxp=mtr
They arrived today and are at least double the size of the existing one. Even this one looks of the same style and the stalk is longer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-FZR-400- ... 1786174558
I'll update with pics of mine as soon as I can get them.
Edit:
Hmm, after some searching, looks like the PO may have swapped the rear indicators so they're so small. Anyone know of nice replacements?

Re: Rear blinker replacement options?
Firstly you need to identify and inform us of the exact model of your motorcycle .
Without that specific information an accurate reply cannot be made.
Secondly.....it is folly to purchase parts listed by sellers as FZR 400 unless you have information as to what was originally fitted to each model of the machine and its variants. Vendors invariably class all 400 and 600 FZR models as the same which is incorrect.
Once the information is given..it is relatively easy to cross reference from an on line parts fiche part no. to a pic of the required item and hence its source, cost and availability providing the original part is required.

Re: Rear blinker replacement options?
The indicators on the bike are aftermarket, the one in your hand is the correct Yamaha one.
If you want the same as the ones on there you'll need to look around and find something like Bike-It, Oxford etc but they're not hard to get.

The one on the bike looks very much like the Yamaha DT125R one.
I have no inclination of size though even if it is a Yamaha part

Yes sorry, thats what I had concluded. Its a US '89 1WG and looks to be a bit frankensteined. Lots of things to button up.

http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-fzr400w-198 ... ml#results has got the original Blinkers listet for a, in my opinion, way to high price for simple blinkers...looks like the one you hold in your hand, but the ones mounted at the bike look like the usual aftermarket miniblinkers sold here in Germany between 5 to 10 € per piece..for example sold at http://www.polo-motorrad.de/de/mini-bli ... stuck.html

Whilst hunting for other things these appeared;
They look very similar to your broken unit and are pattern parts.

As I remember you need 2 long and 2 short stem to make a set, the long ones are for the fairing

Thanks for the link, I had seen those too but I don't really mind the dorky big indicators. Gives the bike character just like the mirrors.
My fairing ones were replaced with the flush mount ones. I'll post pics once I get everything buttoned up and go for a ride.

Re: Rear blinker replacement options?
Just make sure they can be clearly seen. I used to think indicators were much better when they were small, just about legal but small. Then I went on a ride and the other guys couldn't see me indicate in their mirrors or if they just glanced at the bike, they had to actually look for them. "How do you expect a car driver who doesn't know where youre going to see them", and "change those f'king ridiculous things" .... they suggested, helpfully.
