First engine bogging, now no electrical... ICU?

I bought a 95' YZF600R about a month ago. It had some running issues, but I was sure it was just carb clogs. It idle great, ran good at low rpm, shoot it even would start w/o choke first try! After digging into it, I found it didnt have a fuel pump. I added an external universal fuel pump and the problem was still there. The best way I can describe the problem is that up to 3k rpm it runs like it should, after 3k rpm, the power just flat lines. As you rpms go up, the power is still the same. You can twist the throttle all you want, but nothing extra is there. from 1/4 throttle to WOT it's all the same, no more power. At around 10k, it seems to clear out quickly and I have full power at +10k RPM.
But after installing the fuel pump, and taking it for a test spin, and finding nothing changed, I was cruising at about 25mph, and I fiddle'd the the fuel/res switch. Noticed in the 'ON' pos the gas light was on, in the 'res' pos, the light would turn off. As I was fiddling, the bike's electrical shut down (no lights, no tach, no nothing but the engine is still turning b/c I havent pulled in the clutch yet). it then kicked back on, and had a good sized back fire. It was on and off like this for the 1/8th mile it took me to get home. I let it sit for a second, and it was able to start up just fine. I took it to the garage, and lifted the tank to see if I could locate a problem. Put it all back together, and was about to take it for another test spin. I switch the ignition to 'ON' and everything lit up. I had the ignition switch on for about 30sec (engine off), while talking with my father, and as I was about to start it, I realized somewhere during my conversation, ALL electrical power was gone from the bike. It was dead. Nothing was bringing it back. All fuses are good (yes even the starter fuses). At that point I gave up for the day.
Could all my problems be from the ICU? I know alot of the electrical system gets it's power and ground from the icu, so could explain why nothing lights up. The battery is good, and still fully charged. I wouldnt think it would be the regulator, bc doesnt the isu get it's power from the batter, and the regulator just charges the battery? I'll be doing a complete electrical look over one day this week (darn work gets in the way), but any hints on where to look first would be great!
Thanks
David
