FZR600R engine vibration

In the states, this was the upgrade to the FZR600. In other places, this is called an FZR. Either way, many of the components of the US YZF600r fit onto the US FZR600.

FZR600R engine vibration

Post by dougs »

hi, can any one help with this little problem? i have an engine vibration that gets worse with the higher revs, is it a normal thing with the fox eye or is there something particular i need to look for?
it is not severe but i have noticed it, i have to back off the tank when riding and my wife has also noticed a problem with the pillion pegs, no real problem with the bars though!

Doug,
Ok lets go with the obvious but frequently overlooked basics:-
Engine to frame mounting bolts all up to correct torque (as per the book you did get one for your new toy ?)

swingarm pivot bolt ?

frame loops ?

rear wheel axle ?

and last but not least chain adjusters and sprocket nuts.

some of these are counter intuitvie but non the less play funny games with the "feel" of the bike.

having checked that lot the we get a bit more worried about engine internals but past experience tells me it is some thing less drastic

thanks, i will check the mounting bolts, it wont be anything not connected with the engine e.g. swingarm, wheel bearings, chain etc as its connected to revs only (pull the clutch at speed and it goes smooth as a baby's @r$e) there is no issue with the handling as that is better than great, i was wondering if it could be carb related as its a little lumpy when i open her up?
update
i have had a play with the carb sync and it's def. better so im going to take her to the garage and have her tuned up

yet another problem solved finally got the last of the rattles out of the engine it turns out it will only run well on 97 octane NOT 95 so she likes the expensive stuff and now runs really smooth so anyone with the same problem, first get the carbs synced and then check the fuel is right octane
