Reserve light help!

Hi guys, so heres the deal, my bike has no indicator lights like neutral, reserve, etc, and no gauges.
I wanted to get a reserve light from somewhere, and ive seen two wires comming from the tank, are those the reserve light switch wires or only a "reserve off" sensor?
Any help would be apreciated, thanks in advance.

G,
better hunt out the wiring diagram for the bike er your 92 does not have wires from the tank for sure so go for the 94 version which may have ...................

That looks very much like a YZF600 tank, which does not have any reserve tank. The petcock/fuel tap is ON or OFF. I aint wired up my low fuel level sender yet.
If memory serves me correct. The low fuel warning sender in the YZF tank has a Green wire and a Black wire.
I could be wrong, but i suspect the Low fuel warning lamp should be wired as such.
The Signal fuse Brown wire, (make sure not to confuse it with a Dark Brown/turn signal wire on some models) wired direct to the low fuel warning lamp, the other terminal/side of the warning lamp should be wired to the Green wire on the low fuel warning sender, the Black wire on the low fuel sender should be wired to ground.
Hope that helps you out.
I do have a readable YZF600 wiring diagram for which i take no credit, I found it on the net somewhere cant remember where. Which displays a "Low Fuel Warning Lamp"
Should i post the diagram hmmm.... copyrights?

If you could post it would be nice, or send it to my email at

I've just dug the diagram out.
This does involve guess work (I've never seen a YZF600). The warning lamp appears to be powered by the "Ignition control unit" The FZR "signal fuse" should suffice. The negative side of the lamp connects to the "Fuel Level Sender" (looks to be a Green/White wire) the Black wire connects to ground. There is other circuitry, which I believe is to test the circuit when the start button is pressed, similar to the FZR oil level circuit (oil light illuminates when the start button is pressed).
I would strongly advise against wiring the lamp as the YZF is wired (don't connect it to the TCI)
I intend wiring mine as i suggested, The only problem i can foresee is the the low fuel sender is rated less than 12v (unlikely but possible) I'll know if it works or not when i decide where to mount the warning lamp, and get round to wiring it up.

Keep in mind chaps..his bike IS a YZF600 and NOT an FZR600.. Guga. I would follow the wiring diagram below. Looks simple enough.

Yep that's the exact diagram I have. Just read some previous posts that's the "92" YZF
Wiring up the sender should be a breeze, just look for the Green/White wire from the ICU, and the Green wire (test circuit) on the "Starting circuit cut off relay" Was confusing been posted in the 600 garage.
EDIT. was posted before sweekster edited his above post. making this post look

thanks for the wiring diagram, thats all i needed! its so easy, green\yellow wire that comes from cdi connects to positive light terminal, black wire from fuel level sensor its ground, and the green wire from the fuel sensor connects to the negative light terminal. Gotta get a multimeter to measure how much voltage and current reaches those wires to get a LED\resistor for it

If the voltage is 12V, a 430 ohm resistor is needed for a LED warning lamp.

gonna run the wires to a oil level warning light too, we never know what happens!
I dont think it will be 12v, as the positive terminal wire comes from the cdi it must already be "resistored"

Yeah the Oil light is a must!
You got my PM regarding the location of the wiring diagram? yamaha_george sorted that out for ya, remember to thank him.
