GP shift (racing)

In the states, this was the upgrade to the FZR600. In other places, this is called an FZR. Either way, many of the components of the US YZF600r fit onto the US FZR600.

GP shift (racing)

Post by rokitrick »

Just bought a '96 YZF600R and wondering if anyone had one set up for GP shift... going vintage racing...
That's opposite of street shift, 1 up 5 down, since when you're leaned over, you can't get your foot under to upshift
Looks like the countershaft sprocket cover would have to be modified, or is it even possible ?
any input before I get into it ?

Thanks,

Rick

Not sure with the YZF, but with the FZR600, the FJ1100 / 1200 shift knuckle spaces it out enough to allow GP shift.
