New clutch doesnt engage

In the states, this was the upgrade to the FZR600. In other places, this is called an FZR. Either way, many of the components of the US YZF600r fit onto the US FZR600.

New clutch doesnt engage

Post by lou6251 »

So i had my whole bike apart to swap the frame for one with a title. everything went fine until it was time for a ride. I knew the clutch was going bad so when the old clutch wouldnt engage i bought a new one. i had the sprocket cover off and after replacing the clutch with a DP brakes clutch i learned and did all of the adjustments. with the back tire up, the tire will spin at idle in first gear but when you give it gas the tire stops as if its in neutral. The clutch kit reuses the metal plates and i read after install that your supposed to scuff them up. My next plan is to tighten down the clutch springs some more to see if that helps. anyone know whats going on here?

The pressure plate goes on 5 ways, but only works in one position. There is a match mark on the plate that must line up with a mark on the hub. DON'T try to overtighten the springs; you'll tear the threads out of the spring towers, and these are too lightly built for repair - you have to replace the hub!
