My FZR600R Foxeye Restoration

In the states, this was the upgrade to the FZR600. In other places, this is called an FZR. Either way, many of the components of the US YZF600r fit onto the US FZR600.

The Foxeye and Thundercat both use shock about 360mm long. The YZF750, Thunderace (YZF1000) and FZR1000 all use shocks that are about 340mm long.

I don't think it is a 750 shock though. Here is a picture of my stock 750 shock. It does not have the top spring compressor as in your picture.

Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Something is lurking, waiting, wanting to be built......It calls to me from the darkness....

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel....Then I realize that it is the train coming to run my ass over....

The beauty with buying 20 yr old second hand bikes sometimes Doug.
Makes you wonder what some people think,a wrench i ain't,but somethings are not that hard.Makes you think some people dont deserve a bike.
I had a kawi that i had to take to an enginneers, just to get the swing arm bolt out once.I litrally destroyed the swing arm bolt with a lump hammer(4lb)and chisel braying it,and the thing still would'nt budge :swear .
Good work there though friend,at least when its done, you will know its right  .

Out of interest where do you get Bearings and the bar for £44? I am hoping the swingarm/suspension bearings on mine are okay.

The bike came with a list of things that needed doing from a fairly well respected bike shop so I am hoping that they wouldn't have missed the swingarm. They picked up that one fork seal had a slight leak and that the rear wheel bearings needed replacing so I am hoping not.

Also, in an earlier post you mentioned cleaning the sight glass window are you able to do this without dropping the sump off?

Ok the swing arm bush and bearings are from yambits on eBay and it is very easy to miss the swing arm bush and bearings you really can't tell till you strip it all down
As for cleaning the sight glass I simply emptied the oil and removed the sight glass with a seal removal tool (like a dentist tooth pick) best to put it back with some gasket sealant if you use the original just to be sure it won't leak

Hi John I cleaned it up and wet sanded it then flapwheeled all the welds that were not clean and then sprayed smooth hammerite silver as it's a fairly soft paint it should be pretty long lived, I used it a few years ago on my diversion swingarm with good results

Looks really good but I would tempted to mount the rear shock reservoir above the subframe lower rail assuming it fits of course.

The tie wrap thing is a bit rubbish. On the YZF750 there is a bracket attached to the rail which a jubilee clip passes through.

Image

The bracket on the PowersportsPro site is showing as being on backorder but it would be neat. I am rubbish at metalwork but making a bracket like that wouldn't be too difficult.
