I had this idea a little while back to get some patches made, and I wanted to put the feelers out to see how many people would be interested.
I came up with some preliminary designs:

#1 A mild variation on the first t-shirt design.


#2 A variant that obviously features the Yamaha logo
(Sorry about the size, it was either thumbnail or way too big. You can click on it for the full-sized image)


#3 A more complicated variation on #2 that features both the Yamaha and FZR logos, and would go best with the most different colors of jackets/leathers


(Don't laugh at the graphics quality; all I had to use was creative use of Microsoft Word, MS Paint, and the "print screen" button)

I'm talking with a couple of places that make patches, and so far the estimate is somewhere in the $5-10 per patch shipped, though I'll get a precise price as the time gets closer to place the order. I'll be trying to keep costs to a bare minimum on these, and won't be trying to make a profit, but at the same time I can't sell them at a loss either.

Just leave me some feedback on which designs you like/dislike and why, and feel free to design your own and PM or e-mail them to me, and I'll review their doability, upload and post them.

3 is cool BUT will be a pigs ear to read in those colours might I suggest the FZR online.com around the top inside the outer ring (make that a little bigger ) and the grip, twist launch arounf the bottom inside the outer circle but in smaller font than the FZR.
I am crap at graphics so I will not even try to reproduce it

My original idea with #1 was that it could be a back or chest patch, while 2 and 3 would make shoulder patches.

I was gonna try adding the logos around the outside, but I could not get the computer to do it. I'll try to just print it out and manually do it (I was gonna do the final draft for the patch company in this manner anyway). About the coloration for the lettering, what color do you suggest?

P.S.: I had actually forgotten about the stickers. I'd like to get a couple myself, but it looks like you would need to get ahold of Bweight. Here's the topic post on the decals.

Just a blue or a red border around the lettering would make the color as is, 'pop'.

I like George's idea of running the lettering around the outside ring...leaves the tuning forks unmolested and would be more readable.

I like the third one best.

im in for one let me know when and where ,

i think black with silver or gold writing would be pretty kool because then you could put on any color jacket , or other clothing

Another thing we could do is just make a ring or "arc" to go around an existing round Yamaha patch I could buy in bulk, or each person could buy their own Yamaha patch. When I was in the scouts when I was younger we had just that: patches cut in a semicircle that went around circular patches.

That would look good with the arc I'm talking about above, just with a black Yamaha patch.

The other thing I though about with #1 is having the white background made out of the reflective material they put on jackets so that cars can see you better. it would add an element of safety, but would also add a little bit to the cost.

On another note, my mother is a pretty accomplished seamstress, and it turns out she has an embroidery machine. I'll need to finish going over some things with her about the programming, but I may be able to get her machine to make them. If I could do that we could possibly give everyone whatever color combo they wanted, and I wouldn't have to sit on a small pile of patches for a while, which would be a definite plus.

I'll try to keep everyone updated as this progresses. I might not make any more major progress until after tuesday, as I have a final tuesday night.

the idea of the Arc fitting round the standard Yam patch is cool , reflective is nice but it only hi lights ONLine as the white bit
