My FZR1000 Streetfighter

Post by DME »

Hi there!

New on the forum, figured I'd put up some pics of my trusty warrior.

Started the build back in 2002 and it has been through a couple of reincarnations since, but the base has been pretty much the same.

Based on a 1989 FZR1000, I happened to stumble over a NOS 1993 engine that immediately found its way in between the frame spars.

Looked like this in 2004, Kawi green just because... :

The evolution continued and in 2006 I did a slight overhaul.

Powdercoated frame:

Hardware zinkplated yellow:

White paint:

Came out like this:

Only engine mod is a removed airbox snorkel and jetting to suit (ended up with 150 mains), put out just under 138 rwhp on the dyno.

Specs:
1989 FZR1000
1993 NOS engine
Homemade subframe
Ducati 916 tailunit with homemade seat
Homemade dogbones (10mm shorter)
Stainless steel undertail
Modified gaugecluster (speedo removed)
Homemade handlebar risers
Twin Bates headlights
R1 goldspot front calipers
Ducati 996 front discs
Shortened Yoshimura can
Fly moto-x bars

Cheers
/Daniel

Hi,
nice bike pity about advertising it , anyone can look up your plates (tag)

and find the location.
Do yourself a favour Photoshop the plate to make it unreadable.

Thanks fellas!

Feels like I've gotten to the point where it's not going to change a whole lot more.
Kind of sad actually as I like to spend time in the workshop, building, refining and seeing things evolve.
Would like to keep working on the FZR but I don't know what more to do...
Suggestions are appreciated

After the last remake of the FZR 2006, I pulled my first ever bike (1975 Honda CB750 bought in 1994) out of the shed and rebuilt it and gave it a makeover into a caferacer.

Went from this...

...to this:

Rebuilt a couple of vintage snowmobiles after that and now I don't know what to do :duh:

Oh well, something will turn up!

Rebuilt Rotax 377:

Sno-Tric SC3 160 (also extinct swedish make):

Under the hood, notice the 160cc, 9hp powerhouse:

NOS obsolete belt:

Finished product...:

...buried in slush on the annual vintage snowmobile 2-day trip... Guess 9hp sleds has gone obsolete for a reason :whistle :

All this reminds me that I actually have one more project standing out behind the shed, a 1974 AMF Delta 5820.
Also made in Sweden and looks a lot like the AMF Ski-Daddler.
AMF Delta bought much of AMF's old stock when AMF bought Harley Davidson and started producing snowmobiles under the name of Harley Davidson instead.

Looks like this right now:

Also buried in slush...:

Should look like this:

Enough pics for ya?
