What to change my tail to???

Hey, I was thinking I would upgrade my tale section. I have already made mods to the stock tail. I'd post up pics if I had any idea how. lol
I see a lot of the R6 tail. I kinda like the 04ish R1 tail.
I don't always wanna do what everyone else is doing but I'm not really sure what other tails look good with the bike. Plus for people who have upgraded their tail how much did you end up spending for the tail section, and both seats?

Also I don't think I wanna change my tank to the YZF tank. I just don't really wanna change to pod filters and have to retune. Or possibly have to constantly retune my carbs.

What do you guys think?

OK pods do not require re-tuning that is urban myth if you read the WIKI , you will know why.

Most guys go the R? route cause they are relatively cheap.

Ducati tails are good as are Honda's , all tail mods will require some sub-frame mods so you need welding to hand

As for the Tank as you should have read Mawler has designed a Hybryd airbox that can keep the FZR working

I already read this but honestly have no idea what the F*&K he's talking about. I'd need pics. I'm more of a visual learner.

thanks YG

Sorry but the bike I did this with is 4080 miles from me at the moment so no pictures.

Basically the engines state of tune depends on the intake tract ie airbox length tho the carbs and the length of the exhaust pipe for any given engine

When you remove the air box and put pods DIRECTLY on to the carbs you shorten the intake air duct drastically & screw up the mid range tuning.

The idea is to replicate the original intake length using a piece of PVC pipe that is the same length & preferably the same inner diameter as the rubbers that go between the carb & the standard air box.

This plastic tube must actually be longer because you need one end to be heated and stretched over the bell mouth of the carb so the tube can be clamped in place and the other end must be longer so as the filter can be clamped to it.

The tuned length is the bit between the pod's rubber flange and the end of the carb bell mouth that has to be the accurate measurement.

I hope that helped.

In a nutshell... it is a pain to run pods. I had great success with the stock air box and a jet kit.

What bike are we talking about? FZR400, 600, 750, 1000?

RD,
that is the whole point doing this is not a PITA job. If I did not have my sights firmly fixed on riding now I am passed as fit and not having the Paint job design well in hand + not having the Pods handy or VERY cheaply I would do this just for the how to with pics but 2 or 4 pods are not cheap enough for a whim.

I have a 92 FZR600 CDN model. I have the stage 3 jet kit with a yoshi Tri-oval carbon fiber pipe.

I say use whatever tail you want. The reason a lot of people stick with certain tails is that they know it will work with minimal headache.

Whatever tail you choose to use - take pics and share!

I ran pods, got EMgo's for 8 bucks each, drilled them and used a Flo-Commander Set-Up

Wasn't too tough to tune, and the power with my V+H full exhaust was definitely increased

I think that would help significantly. Probably wouldn't be too hard to make even.

EMgo's are pod filters

Flo-Commander is a gizmo that allows you to alter the fuelling to the carbs manually without stripping out the carbs each time

Use the SEARCH facility on Flo-commander as there is acomplete thread and how it works in the thread if not an actual how to:=
