Belly Pans-Who's Got 'Em?

Post by mrfreeze5 »

Who is running a belly pan? What kind? Built/bought? Pics?

Im debating whether or not to run one and have seen some I like, but never actually mounted on a FZR. But then again, I really like the lines that my header makes. Gives it that nice pointy look like a belly pan offers.

Why thank you.

Im not convinced I NEED a bellypan just yet. but as particular as I am about how it should look, Im trying to find one actually on a FZR to compare the lines. Otherwise Ill have to end up making one, or just running as is. I think the header makes a huge difference in the overall look of the bike.

In fact, its what made me decide to go this route. After looking at teh bike with the R6 nose on it for a while but no side fairings, I started liking the lines more and more from teh D&D header and commited to selling off the fairings and running like this.

when my bike was a fighter for the past few weeks, I kept my r1 lowers on and they looked pretty sweet as a belly pan.

I have STRONLY considered doing that and its currently near the top of the list. Did you have to modify it much to fit your exhaust? Thats the main thing Im concerned about is header clearnance since its different than most FZR headers out there. you dont happen to have any pics of it like that do you?

it clears my r6 headers just fine. unfortunatly, well, actually, I DO have pics of the bike like that!
I just have to use my friends computer and upload them onto it to show you.
I just had to make two brackets that bolted on the mount that is just above the radiator mounts on the sides, and bolted to the mounting holes on the lowers.
the mid pipe melted the the lower where it touched and basicly just made a perfect cut out for it.
there is just a few other things you need to chop off the lowers but its no biggy...

im not terribly concerned about trimming, but lots of newer bikes have the header close to the engine where mine sticks straight out. I think I may end up going this route, especially since I can get them already painted black like I want

I like that a lot. but Id have to figure out some sort of different mount for the front. That long bracket wont work for me. But that gives me a good idea. Thanks!
