Any Paint Gurus on the Forum?

I painted the fairings earlier this year and finished wet sanding this weekend (1500 and 2000 grit). There was a good amount of orange peel. The parts were hand buffed and polished. However, the finish is still hazy. I'm using cloth and foam applicator pads and Mequir's rubbing and polishing compounds. I tried using less product, more/less force, and working until the product was clear then removed with a cloth towel before it dried.

Hand buffing is exhausting. I am looking to buy a DA polisher or traditional buffer.

Any suggestions?

Contacted the paint shop and was told I have to use a machine. The clear coat is too hard to do by hand.

Some clear coats work much better than others. What brand did you end up using?

Interesting product. Two stage paint in a rattle can. How did it turn out?

It's a mid-grade base/clear paint called Utech. It was highly recommended for my application, skill level (beginner), and budget.

The buffer made a big difference. If you look closely, you will see flaws. I wasn't looking for show room quality. The next step is polish.

The bike is actually practice for a '79 z28 that I am restoring. This is only the second vehicle I've sprayed and the first that I have tried to finish.
