Alternator Problem (i think)

Hey
I think my alternator is screwed

So far what i have done is
Disconnected the positive terminal of the bike, and tested for leaks
(no leaks)

Measured the voltage across the battery, and it didn't raise as i revved it

Tested the white leads going in to the regulator/rectifier
i read 30-60vac across each pair when revving

How ever the Alternator is coils on the fly wheel, and is a non moving part, therefor rarely breaks

Is there any other test i can do to determine the problem?

Thanks
Richard

if we had some clue from you about year/ and market model (ie your location in your personal profile ) it would probably help.

the Wiki has a section on trouble shooting the charging system which would be of use may be..............

As discussed on FZR250.com, 30-60vac on all 3 legs = a working alternator. If your battery isn't charging, then it's either the battery, the VRR, or the wiring in between. There may be a 'leak', a short that drains the battery without passing enough current to actually blow a fuse.

B,
Well that is a start but where ?
Bikes are not built in Japan to one spec the spec varies as to what market it gets sent to USA has diff emision specs to Europe . Lights are wired permanently on in some countries and manual in others.

As for the engine electrics they are the same basic layout ie alternator/ Volt regulator/ battery charging system.so:- take a look in our very extensive WIKI for electrical trouble shooting.

In this case they WERE built to one spec, as the FZR250s were JDM-only. All examples found elsewhere are grey imports.

Don,

IIRC, the Japanese share the trait of driving on the wrong side of the road with you chirpers...
