FZR250 2KR swingarm details

Post by tobster »

Hi
Can someone please tell me what the standard swingarm from the FZR250 2KR is made of. i.e. is it aluminium or painted steel? Also, is it identical to the TZR250 1KT/2MA of a similar vintage? I'm also looking for some dimensions of it, specifically the front pivot width and the axle width. Thanks

I cant tell you is they are identical. with looking on line, they do look a little different, but close. I have the TZR250 3XV swingarm, which is completely diferent. so i guess what i'm saying is i'm not sure! i can give you measurements for the 3XV if you need them. if you are planning on putting this on a 400 or 600 frame, there is extensive shock lever work to be done, but the swingarm goes on nicely with a couple of spacers and a new pivot bolt sleeve.
I did that.

thanks target.
do you happen to know if it is made of aluminium or steel? I am actually looking to install it in an RD350YPVS. I gather the steel swinger in my bike weights approximatelt half the weight of the sun, so I'm looking for some weight reduction and thought an aluminium swinger would help. Of course as I don't use my rear brake, I could just cut off my right leg, but that seems a bit drastic at the moment :no

It should be aluminium. If I recall correct only the FZR600 is steel.

he 3XV is aluminum.

cutting off your right leg would throw the weight distribution off on your bike! haha
I did that.

The '87-88 2KR frame is steel, and I'd wager the swinger is as well. The '89+ 3LN frames were aluminum. My swinger sure looks like the 'Deltabox' swingers; I've seen pics of the 2KR swingarms, and they look like the steel FZR600 pieces.
