Hi guys,
Ran into an issue with the charging system on my 88 FZR 250 the battery isent staying charged any longer than 10 mins I have ran some multimeter checks and was hoping someone could make sense of the numbers im leaning more towards a stator replacement.

Battery voltage with bike off 12.5v
Battery voltage at 4000rpm 12.8v

R/R output 31v at 4000rpm on all 3 stator wire combinations

Amps between neg terminal and neg battery post 7.4A
Amps between neg terminal and neg post with R/R disconnected 7.2A (Runs permanent headlight)

R/R pins showing same values between all combinations off positive pin to all 3 stator pins and same values for neg pin to all 3 stator pins.

Resistance between stator coils on ohm 2000 setting =003 for all coil combinations.

Your VRR has failed low, and isn't actually passing any power to the battery - annoying, but far better than having it failed high and frying everything in the harness!

Just replaced VRR and tested all tests are good but still no charge to battery battery is new so I know its not that. All wiring and connections have been checked and thats all good.
Must be the stator ????

Check your battery condition - condition and security of terminals, level of cells, warped / cracked plates.

Was in the middle of adding/editing my previous post when you replied.

If you have 31vac across all 3 legs, your stator is fine.

Any ideas at what else it could be ??
I measures resistance at the stator plug and got 00.4 ohms across all combinations off the 3 stator wires.

So just looking over the wires again and had a look at the flasher unit its a narva 145w flasher Im not to sure but 145w sounds a little excessive to me?

charging problem is sorted now,
The replacement VRR i brought was no good so it must of been something dodgy with the old wiring cause i put old VRR back in and all readings are good and I pretty much rewired the whole bike
