Front end conversion help please!

Post by xelif »

Hi people, so my forks on my 250 2KR are now pitted too low and tearing up any new seals put in. Instead of having them re-chromed I though I may as well go for a front end swap. My front wheels is giving up a bit too, disc is warped, bearings need replacing and the bolts need to be taken out and replaced which means my paint will need to be redone. Anyways I have a 3LN front wheels almost new condition and im wondering what forks/triples will slip right in to my 2KR frame and will fit with the new 3LN 2 disc front wheel? thanks for any help

X,
Basically any COMPLETE ** front end from any bike to any other bike will work.
How ever the "gotchas" are the steering head bearings, length of the triple clamp spindle & the length of the forks them selves.

Guys here have swapped spindles from one set of forks (from GSXR etc to FZR) the biggest hassle is that Most Upside down forks are shorter than the FZR set up which drastically alters road clearance of fairings and most importantly changes wheel base / trail set ups that make the FZR the very capable solid steering bike that it is.

** complete = front wheel/ tyre/discs , fender/mudguard, front forks with calipers mounted, triple trees, upper clamp, clip on handle bars that can fit in the original fairing of the FZR.

If you look here you will see a 1979 RD 400 fitted with USD Ducati front end:-

just showing what can be done.

Thanks for the reply. I have done a stem swap recently for a Cb750 wasnt much of a hassle. from what I know the 250 3LN has fatter forks but can the stem fit in the 2KR with original bearings?
