Never heard of a 520 for the 250s - waste of metal, adds rotating mass, etc. The ratio is very close (98% of stock), but the smaller sprockets mean the chain will be much closer to the swingarm, very possibly causing severe wear and tear.
Hi,
from some of those pictures it looks as though the battery boiled and poured acid on the rear frame & swing arm. You should neutralise those areas before you paint.
As for the brake reservoir that will need rebuilding as mine did since the "gummy" residue can clog the minute holes to the pump area of the brakes.
I do like your black painted pipes being baked, Y-G used a propane gas torch thro the pipes to heat them, then used Hi temp gun black spray (boy did that stuff stink ) he then re-heated the pipes and when cool had me rub them down with some oil. The first time I took the newly assembled bike for a ride I felt like James Bond & his smoke screen.
16 months on I do not have any rusty spots that i can see but then we never have snow and road salts only the odd trip to the beach and Madam washes the bike afterwards
