You will have to be careful & remember the new torque value for that one bolt so easy does it

SS
Torque value is usually dependent on diameter and I got the impression you were going to tap the hole with a slightly larger thread and use a bigger diam bolt.

did I read that correctly ?

The way round using a bigger stud is using an aero -style nut that will not back off and use the same torque as the rest that way it will not shake / back off and cause a leak because the gasket is not "pressed" equally.

I was going for 7mm - 1.00 (11mm Hex) 30mm , as this is the closest I could find.

But I'll google this aero-style you mention cause I'm not sure what your are talking about there YG

ah , so i fix a stud in the hole that was threaded , then just screw a nut down . Which would be nice but it might get in the way when doing valve clearances.

SS,
As they say a picture etc.
yup a bolt then is the way to go .
Aero-nut is a deformed nut so the threads grip tighter and do not back off pre-runner of nyloc nuts

Plans have all changed and the bike is staying , so it's getting stripped down and cleaned up all over. If I am super lucky it wont cost to much :whistle
It'll look something like this when done , I might even use the decals just to confuse people :)

You will not be the first one to hide a bike in plain sight for sure BUT do not expect any thanks from the purists
see:-

That one almost caused a fist fight at a bike show when some A W objected to it being shown in a yamaha RD400 show tent, he objected to the paint work so the owner objected to his yamaha which was in white with multi coloured polka dots (I kid you not ).
