Help with new headlight wiring?

Hey guys, plan on putting single beam HID's into my dual round headlights. Plan on using a relay to get power straight from the battery to them. The tough part is that i want the left light to turn on with low beams and both to turn on with high beams. Anyone bored at home and want to draw up a wiring diagram for me? If not then when my parts come i'll probably draw one up for others.

It's not that hard. Just wire it so the HD is in the high beam only position that is activated by the high beam power lead (yellow wire). Basically, you won't use the green wire on that bulb.

If you set it up so the stock switch only sends power to the relay (tells it to turn on) that turns on the HD bulb, you should have no problems with the switch either. This is how I did mine. Don't straight wire the power through the switch to the bulb though as it will draw too much current and fry the switch.

If your talking single filament HID's Yeah? Wouldn't both high and low beams illuminated in the same HID Fry it? (too hot).

Anyways guess who was bored? There may be an easier way IDK You need a third relay to switch the low beam relay back on. Now you ask :nopic

Don't  too much @ my MSpaint skills :)

Of course You MUST use a fuse rated @ the requirements of the HID's (30amp?), between the battery and both relays, locate the fuses as close to the battery as possible (less un-fused wire). You should also swap out the 20amp headlamp fuse to maybe 5 amp, since your only powering relays.

OK so I may have just confused myself with this drawing but its 1:30am my time. What do you guys think about this rough idea? Its hard to think this stuff with out my parts here but I have time to waste while they are in the mail so why not make it useful right?

I know it looks confusing sorry :headscratch:

For all I know I could have just re-created your drawing mawler but in a different order :duh: Thanks for the tip about changing the headlight fuse and also didn't know about the fuse getting as close to battery as possible!

Are you going to run 1 or 2 HID lights? Are they single or double filiment? What system did you buy?

These items can change the way you set this up.

and a cheap ebay kit. they're all the same basic wiring design

 I admire you. Planning ahead, that's rare in a youngster :headbang:

Having never fitted HID's myself, Your diagram helped me out. There's a flaw in my diagram, the same flaw is in yours. Nothing to really worry about if the relays are fitted close together (short wires) therefore less chance those wires could short circuit. I see no reason why your diagram wouldn't work, yes it was confusing (the wire colours). All I've done is match the wire colours to the FZR wiring, makes it easier to read.

Lets know how it turns out and Good Luck

So Today i go to my local parts store and they only have 2 relays...DANG! so i decided to do a single relay/single beam light. Problem i have now is that it appears to not have enough juice to start up both lights and keep them going, both will turn on if i rev it to 3k and turn the lights on but it will eventually go back to having just one light on. at least one is working right now and holy cow i don't even think i need two!! maybe I'd have to install some inline capacitor to keep the voltage up? I know my Nova likes to run at 13ish volts maybe the little 600 doesn't pump enough juice at idle?
