removing/disabling the reserve switch & senser in the tank

Ok this is the story. As most of you know I race my 1992 FZR1000, Im prepairing it for this years season.
What I need to do is??? It has an external pump, low fuel sensor in the tank, & reserve switch.
The wires that come from the reserve sender unit in the tank I want to dissconect them. I want it to run on reserve all the time. From what I can work out, it sends a a message to the computer, that then makes the bike miss, which makes you hit the switch.
I want to remove all that, the switch, & the wires going to the tank sender. I need the computer to think the tank is full all the time. That way I can put in the right amount of fuel in for the lenth of the race Im doing, & not have all that assotiated wiring & switch.

What do I need to do?
If I just unplug the sender wires will that make it run on reserve all the time? that way I can remove the switch..

I need to know which way to attack this issue. :headscratch: :headscratch: :headscratch:

Sounds like you could remove the relay and it would work for ya.

Is the reserve switch and actual switch or is it a leaver you twist at the petcock? The 600 is a leaver and you can turn it to reserve and it works normally.

If it is a switch, you might try removing the petcock unit and replace it with something that more of a mechanical leaver. This would eliminate the electronics getting in the way.

Might want to get another wire harness as well and strip it down to a race harness getting rid of all non-essential wires. This could save you another couple of kilograms in weight.

Yep the reserve is an actual switch on the 1000 connected to a sending unit that sits in the tank and a mechanical petcock. I would think just leaving it disconnected and removing the sending unit from the tank along with blocking off the hole would do the trick. Maybe try splicing the two wires that go to the sending unit together??

I need a "for sure'" answer as it does send a massage to the computer & that is what I dont want to confuse.

Well, what happens if you have a full tank of fuel and you put the switch into "reserve"? Does it run or does it have problems? If it runs then that is your solution, just keep the switch in the reserve position. I am just guessing here but I think it is worth a try. Sweekster - can you try this quickly and see what happens?

No your on the wrong track here.
I want to remove the switch & the sender in the tank.[without confusing the computer] I use the FZR for racing & all that stuff isnt needed anymore, so it i to remove it thats somthing less to go wrong mid race.
