Hey fellow fzrers. Have not posted in a while. Quick question about the idle adjust screw/knob. Which way to turn and how sensitive are the turns. My idle has slowly gotten worst. I used the adjust knob but I think I made it worse.
Do we have any links to a proper carb cleaning with what should be checked or replaced. If not any useful information form anyone here and I will do a write up with photos/video. Things like dipping them, needle replacement, gaskets, floats, those brass color tube things that lose there oval orifice shape.

I can never remember which way either, so I let the bike warm up (short ride) then twiddle the knob till it sounds right ( at about 1200rpm usually)

That is odd, check your air box seating & filter cleanliness plus the fact while you have the air box off that the idle cable is actually working when you twiddle it may just be frayed broken.

Yes, clockwise will increase the RPMs. Yours might be stripped or unscrewed al the way, perhaps?

In this photo, you can clearly see the idle adjust screw - top left. It has the flex area covered in the black plastic sheathing.

*Note: These are Cali carbs and have 2 tubes shown on the right that may or may not be like your bike. I removed and plugged those holes.

Thanks for the great pic. Yours look really clean. Did you dip them and do a rebuild?

No dip... just carb cleaner. A brass brush on some things. I was lucky to get a bike in such good condition.

The only items I updated were emulsion tubes from Factory Pro and a DynoJet jet kit.
