FZR400 Frame / R6 subframe?

Post by ragedigital »

I need to know if any R6 subframe would bolt up to my FZR400 frame.

Anyone?

Or, if you have a subframe and could measure it for me (hole to hole) - that would be great.

Yes it will bolt on. If you are a great welder. Otherwise. No.

I have an early R6 subframe and no way will it bolt-on to an FZR400 frame. The mounting holes on the R6 subframe do not align properly with the mounting points on the frame and the R6 subframe does not incorporate the upper shock-mount like the FZR400. It should be possible to fabricate a solution. I am considering cutting up both subframes and integrating them. Let me know which measurements you need, and I will post them.
FZR400 (1WG): Purchased a perfectly good FZR400 with Yoshimura slip-on/EXUP, Yosh jet kit, Factory ignition advance, Racetech springs and emulators. It even had great bodywork. Like some diseased maniac I had to mess with everything good about that bike. Well, at least I have better brakes now.

FZR400RR (3TJ):Yeah, it's pink.

There is no R6 sub frame that is direct fit to a FZR 400/600. Its all fab work.

Thanks for the pics  , what year subframe is that you installed ?. I see kept stock shock mount. Did the top part of the subframe have to be widened ? or narrowed to mount on the tabs on the 400 main frame ?

i'll have to look for some pics, but my 400 came with a chopped subframe, was a race bike. i took an R6 (99ish year) subframe, chopped it down, beat it with a hammer and such, and bolted it to the remainder of the 400 subframe. i started making some covers for the joints to make it look perty, which is really doesnt. but she's strong.
I did that.

Nice pics thanks alot, now i kinda see whats going on, how wide is the R6 subframe ? did you widen it ? narrow it ? at the mounting points on your 600 frame ? remember im going to mount it on a 400 frame, but im sure there close.

Did you make new mounts on your main frame ? or keep the stock ones ?. It looks like i need new mounts on the main frame, or i have to spread the R6 subframe apart more to line up on 400 main frame.
