Thanks for the swingarm write ups t cat swinger on !
Next if the forks and had a math question .
It looks like the Yzf forks are just a bit taller .
My question is do I lower the forks in the triples to match the Fzr height
Or flush the top of the forks with the triples and clip ons ?
I would like it to be as stable as can be and as close as I can get to zero or as close as possible to
No twitch in the front end for a Yamaha .
So far specs are 1989 Fzr 400 frame ,Yzf motor,Yzf swinger,
Yzf rim & 160 60. 17 rear. Front 120 60 17 , t cat forks .
Just got 08 r6 which not on yet still have to figure out dog bone height&
Spacer bolt up . So Fzr shock for now.
Also will the later model fzr air box bottom fit the Yzf carbs?
Thinking of a tank swap
Thanks in advance gurus !

Lower the forks through the triples until the front end is the same height as the fzr.

As far as I know, the bottom of the FZR airbox will not fit YZF carbs, but it is possible to mate the top of the YZF airbox with the bottom of the FZR. Why are you swapping the carbs if you just want to do a tank swap?

Thanks for the quick reply that helps .
The carbs on it are Yzf but it has some custom box/pod set uP
That blocks the proper tank height . I ve got the Yzf top but no Fzr 400 bottom
And can't seem to find one .

Gussy,

If you keep the ride height the same as the FZR back & front it will steer & feel pretty much the same .

If you cannot find the airbox then go pods BUT read up on doing the swap as there is a trick go thro my old posts & search for pods in that.

Sorry I really ought to be able to use our search engine better but either get an all or nothing result
