Just give me your thoughts... I'll give you this much 400 frame/swingarm and YZF600 motor. Tell me what just happened with the rear rim/tire.

(Hint: It slid right into place.)

You put a 1000 swingarm on it?

Stock 89 400 swingarm with a GSXR 17" rim (Tire: 160/60/17). I got it from a plethora of parts that I bought off of a local guy. He wasn't kidding that he had the bearings replaced with FZR axle sized bearings.

It looks like I'll need a couple spacers, but everything seems to be lining up all too well...

Why hasn't anyone come up with this yet? We might not have to do YZF swingarm swaps for a 160 tire on a 17" rim.

I guess you'll need to add an appendix to the Swingarm Thread then huh? :shocker

I just bought a 1989 GSXR/750 (5.5/17) rim. I'd be really interested as to what's going on there rage. This would be a good opportunity to document this for a highly detailed WIKI on the subject.

Questions:
- Has the Cush drive hub been ground down?
- Thats the stock GSXR rotor right?

This is what I know....

not much, eh?

Actually, I don't believe that the cush drive was touched. I have another cush drive that is exact to it, and it doesn't look milled either. Still working on the year, but this is a 4.5" rim. That 5.5" would be tough with a stock swingarm.

The rotor is Suzuki. I might need to weld on a bracket for the brake arm. It is sitting too close to the tire, but I can put some spacers in there temporarily.

The arm that is holding that caliper is from my YZF600, so an internal bushing will be required for it to match up to the FZR axle. Shouldn't be to touch with the talent we have here.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Who has a mill that would be willing to cut a spacer?

That will put it as being a '89 model rim. The '86-'88 had 18" rear rim. The '89 came with a 160/70r17. The '90 moved up in width to a 180/70r17.

Between the both of us we might be able to get an extensive WIKI written on this subject.
I really want to get a Pirelli Diablo on the bike.

This is a pretty cool discovery........but doesn't it assume you'd have to (if you didn't already have this stuff) find and purchase a FZR400 swingarm AND a 1989 Suzuki rim ? ...plus get these spacers machined and re-work said brake arm ?

(not against it, or for it... just asking for clarification) (I'm a little dumb / slow)
:stupid
