PMF,
You can OVER TYRE these bikes where the stearring gets real heavy to throw the bike around so do not get carried away on tyre width they look great from behind but no one will know that in the twisties cause they will all be in front of you.
If and when I do the rear wheel swap it will be to the same width 4" but a modern diameter 17 or 16 inch rim to get modern tyres more easily down the line .

I would take it you are not concerned about how it will handle? To answer your question a 190 will fit an r6 wheel but I don't think it will fit on an r6 wheel in a YZF swingarm. A YZF wheel will take a 170 tire and possibly a 180 (I don't know for sure. My Z750 has 180 on the back and a Z1000 comes with a 190 in which most people swap it out for a 180 tire because the bike handles the turns much better. If I were in your situation I'd go with a R6 wheel using ABS's mod and run a 180 tire. Fortunately, after that it won't take much to get the rear set uo so it can still be a canyon carver. Some correct length dog bones and properly setup shock and you be good to go. Enough of my babbling though. Whatever you decide I'm sure it'll good and I'll be giving you a

for the work. Hopefully my

helps in some way.

Yep. I have a YZF600 rear caliper on my FZR600 right now - direct bolt on.
Why not go with an FZR1000 swingarm? I think they can do a 190.

Just my opinion here but unless you're planning on adding TURBO to the engine you don't really need anything more than a 160 tire.
Like someone else said, I can verify for sure, a lot of people with CBR1000 / 954 etc bikes swap the stock 190 out for a 180 (mine is like that). At some point friction and rotating mass become less ideal than turn-in ability. Unless you only do straight lines or want to drag race. If it's just for looks I guess that could be a valid excuse too, personally the only things that are visually critical to me is the overall bodywork / general layout. Otherwise as long as my faceshield is clean and I can see the speedometer and tach I'm a pretty happy guy.
But then again we all get bitten by one bug or another so, go with what makes you happy.
at least you got a pretty sweet price on the swinger

I would want to go with a 180 rear too. Everyone and their grandma runs one, there won't ever be a problem finding rubber.

your the one that outbid me on that one.

well i post an ad in craiglist if anyone had a spare yzf or r6 wheel they wanted to get rid of , some guy called me about 25 min away .
this is what he had

this is what it looks like next to my stock wheel
i figured what the hell asked him how much , price didnt sound bad just to have it in case i wanna go either way
So i bought it all for under 50 bucks . he didnt wanna give the wheel but his wheel changer machine was down so he said take it ,
Odd wheel though . 150-70-r17

i want 180-50 but itll do for now as far as mock up goes
wheel , tire, cush and sprocket ehhh

you wil never find a 180/50 tire...only 180/55 or 190/50.
