Hi I am pretty new to this board as far as actually talking, I have spent countless nights admiring your FZRs and finally started aquiring parts to make my own hybrid! :headbang: It all started about a month or two ago when I found the 99 R6 rear faring on craigslist for $40 in good shape and I just couldn't pass that up so I started looking for the rest of the swap. I Am awaiting USPS but have everything but a custom coolant resevoir! Then just earlier this week I saw a yzf swingarm for $35 and the same guy was selling the wheel/axle/tire/hub for $100. I got it all for $150 shipped and I am now looking for the JT sprockets front kaw 15 tooth rear yzf 47tooth, a chain, and those pivot bolt bearings. It looks like another $150 and I'll have all the parts which wil have to wait for next payday and it will probably happen over the winter. Also I am a Western Michigan University Student and will be machining my swingarm on a handy Bridgeport Mill and might even make some 08 R6 shock spacers :grinnod: . If anyone has these chains, sprockets or bearings shoot me a pm im interested in buying!! Well Im new to the custom bike world but I am an auto mechanic and belive I have the intelligance to get this done. I'll be happy for tips or feel free to comment.

That's how it starts for a lot of us. We find a good deal and we're off!

You'll do fine. Keep the photos coming!

Not sure why I never caught on that this is a 1990 model. I just noticed the front brake calipers and that's what had me thinking. Could have sworn this was a 94+... And I've looked at Genesis's thread quite a few times.

Genesis I just might have to keep an eye out!

Target im glad your ok it seems like thats always the case someone pulling out in front of us thats how i laid mine down luckfully this bike takes a drop pretty good!!! I actually got more damage from these kids pushing it over in my apt parking lot!!! that pissed me off :swear ... You can use pics of mine to show yours lol same exact thing I really love the color scheme and actually have thought about painting the r6 tail to resemble the stock?? but who knows what I'll do we'll just have to wait and see

The swingarm pivot bearings for the yzf and fzr are the same right?

I also am thinking about an undertail exhaust, is this very difficult or do i just need some flex tubing and a little creativity?

HAHA I was thinking the exact same thing. Painting my R6 upper the gun metal gray and decaling my R6 tail and YZF tank like stock.

i think painting the r6 tail to match that color scheme would look excellent!
Target im glad your ok
That happened back in '95, god i cant believe its been that long. luckily i saw her coming out, and knew i couldnt miss her, so i started climbing up off the bike, hit her rear quarter panel square. The bike just stopped, and i flew up and over the car, did a half flip and landed on the back of my head. impact knoced my helmet of, but i landed perfectly to slide to a stop on my back, feet first. Of course i was wearing a t-shirt at the time(yeah i know, i've grown up since then!) and amazingly it didnt rip, i still have it, there are road rash marks on the back. walked away with a couple torn up fingers from them smashing through the windscreen(no gloves...) and a scraped up ankle. i got very lucky

Got the swinger on now im waiting for the brake caliper bracket and the torque arm! but with it mounted

I'm not to sure the sprockets line up but the rear wheel might be a little crooked.

Does anyone have any good pictures of the rearsets being spaced out, or the custom bracket for the rear brake light switch?

Did anyone notice a little less suspension travel or stiffer suspension on this swap?

Other than those little issues it looks sooo nice!!! I will take some pics when I find this camera charger and make it beack to the folks house!!!

Thanks to everyone with write-ups or that have helped me on this swap this forum is amazing!!!

So i got the bolts and spacers for the rear set, the brake caliper mount and the torque arm. I plan to install everything on Friday and I even got some fancy metal valve stems bandana

As for the R6 tail I finally found out where my parts are and should recieve them this week darn USPS!!! taking forever

Does anyone have a pic of there FZR subframe fabbed up to sport the 99-02 R6 tail? I'm Still not 100% sure how I will design the rear seat mounts.

Thanks in advance
