WHAT SWINGARM? 400 Frame / YZF Motor

So, I have the YZF600 motor in the 400 frame. I have these options available to me:

400 swingarm
YZF swingarm

Can I put a FZR1000 swingarm on there and use the YZF rim? Is it longer?

Just from looking at a few pics the 1k is swingarm is long. I would say it's similar length to the YZF but again, I'm just looking at pics of both bikes. Depending on resources could you get a TZR rim and use the 400 swingarm? Of course my thinking in that is how the bike turns-things of that sort. Maybe ModKing could give better insight....

Finding a TZR rim is harder than finding FOX shocks... the only rims I see are the new ones on eBay for $400+.

I do believe that they're a direct bolt-on though - right?

EDIT: Scratch that. I have the YZF motor and need something to line up with it. I have a YZF swingarm, rim, etc... But, I'd just rather have an aluminum swingarm than a steel one.

wedge a CBR f2 or F3(f3 is lighter) into it.

the machining dimensions can be found somewhere on google and the archives, gagaaggeeee did it and has notes...

get a VF500 sproket carrier so you machine less.......but it does limit your sproket options I found

3TJ swingarm. I know I'm no help when it comes to saving money, but it would be really cool.

Or early R6. Crazyivan just did put one on his 400.

YZF600 should fit with the least amount of work though.

92-94 FZR400RRSP. Here is a link to give you some general info - http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... p%2092.htm Can find most of the items for sale on the UK ebay site as well as some of the others. China Steve might be able to help as well.

yeah I see with a BIN of about 200 bucks plus prolly another 100 bucks shipping on occasion there

sometimes they go for less than a 100 USD's......but its rare

add the wheel to it and yowza shipping will prolly cost more than teh wheel and swinger

use a yzf600r swingarm and keep it simple. spend money in other areas. you can slide a fzr1K rear rim on a yzf600r rim or do my r6 wheel swap mod. i like adjustment of the yzf600r better then newer bikes. its alot simpler and faster i think.

A 3TJ swinger would be nice and ideal because it'll fit perfect but where to get one? Ya know? Wait...Just had a thought. There was a guy on the archives that had a 400 with a GSXR 750 swinger assembly (with the wheel and brake) with a built YZF motor ...Wrench is his name.

Here is the thread. This pics are gone but everything else is still there.

Here's a guy selling a gixxer swingarm with info regarding that mod as well

Here's pis of the bike itself.

I doubt this helps much seeing that you already have the YZF stuff and going another route would mean more money spent.

I'll probably just stick with the YZF swingarm for now. I shouldn't have to deal with alignment issues if I go that route.
