R1 Gauges help.
I bought an FZR with R1 gauges on it. Everything works on the gauges except for in second gear the speed reads 0 km/h. Soon as I go into third it reads the correct speed again. Same thing for first gear. Any ideas on could possible cause this? The bike has the speedohealer and the tacho converter on it.

NOW THAT is a good questionFreestyle72 wrote:I bought an FZR with R1 gauges on it. Everything works on the gauges except for in second gear the speed reads 0 km/h. If the conversion is correct then the pick up is off the 6th gear wheel in the tranny. NO-ONE has ever written up the FULL how to:- about how you use the speed healer. It may be the setting for the second gear have not been set correctly ?
I had looked at this mod with the idea of doing it but too much was left un-said for me to go thro with it.as I like a fully functioning bike that can be restored by the next owner.

Re: R1 Gauges help.
Well I had a talk with the previous owner. And he said that the sensor is about 1mm too far to the right. So it can pick up all the gears except 2nd? You are telling me you just need to pick it up off the 6th gear? Since I haven't opened the cases I am actually not sure as to what is right. So I think I am going to have to take it apart this winter try to fill the case with JB weld and re-drill at the right spot.

that sounds about right
Another you might think about is elongating the hole and making a plate to mount the sensor in. to fix it in the mean time.
I would see about find a blown FZR motor, and using the case from that, that is what I plan on doing when I do the 660 conversion.
Is the previous owner on the board? post some pictures of the bike.

Re: R1 Gauges help.
The P/O is SilverJS on this board.
I have a project thread where I posted a couple pictures. I'll get some more as I make progress. Luckily I did grab an FZR600 bottom end off him, so I could probably use that. I wanted it for tranny parts.

Perhaps my description is off, by sixth gear I actually meant the last gear wheel that drives the out put shaft that has the front sprocket on it is the one the sensor is supposed to be reading IF my understanding of the various write ups of this Mod are correct.
As I said a complete write up/ how to has not been done to the point that I felt that doing what was said fully answered my thoughts on the subject.
