She Began:

The re-paint just wasn't enough:

Getting into things:

Things fitted with stock tank cover:

You can see the YZF tank works much more nicely:

This is where I wired my low-fuel light with the YZF tank:

All done:
Final specs: 2001 R6 Tail, (integrated tail light), 97 YZF Tank, FULL VH Exhaust, 4 Pod filters w/ Flo-commander
I loved that bike, but hard times hit and members were very supportive in buying parts:
But it's okay because now I have a new project, my 1990 FZR 1000...and i'm starting to think how R1 fairings would look on her....
If anyone has any questions on any of the tail swap, tank swap, low fuel light wiring, seats or any aspect of this particular hybrid, please let me know and i'll help you out
(yes i have gotten a new camera since then

)

Sweet Mods! You totally gave me hope for my ride. I've wanted one of the newr style tails to fit on my 95 YZF but all the pictures I've seen are the air-tech tail and I don't want that. I guess now my question is how much is different between the FZR and the YZF

Hey! That frame looks familiar...Oh yeah! It's in my basement!! I have to say I thought this bike was badass a year ago. I cant tell you how excited I was to see it available and with so much other stuff right when I was ready for a new project. I promise I will take good care of it and do its memory justice. With pics of course.

New project??? Don't you have an old project to finish? Heh. I know how it goes though. I have a 400 frame now I need to be cleaned up a bit and then swap everything over. Then replace the head gasket on the spare motor and hope that fixes things so I can throw that into the old frame and start building up that bike to sell. All that along with still designing headlights and a dash. I need more money.

If the 1000 turns out anything like your 600, it will be sweet.

Hi, Moey. I don't know about the earlier marks, but the 3LN subframe unbolts, which would help. Measure your mounting brackets (mine's under 6 feet of snow and ice, or I'd help), and see if one of the fellows in mid-swap can measure his R6 subframe.
I actually like the 250's back end; the only mods I plan for that is to change the pillion seat to a cover, and ditch the signals for an integrator.
cheers,
Don

a lot of parts between the two bikes are interchangeable, all the yzf600 is is a more rounded version of the fzr. I have a lot of stuff from the yzf on mine already, but I think i've put as much on it as i can from those bikes, now i'm putting R6 fairings on!
